Why it's time to ditch those disposable coffee cups.

Reusable Bamboo Fibre Coffee Cup

Reusable Bamboo Fibre Coffee Cup

Half a million disposable cups are thrown away everyday here in the UK. EVERY DAY. Out of those only  a measly 400 get recycled. Many people still believe that these type of cups are recyclable, but because of the plastic film coating on the inside they are difficult to process and so the majority end up in landfill (even if you put them in your cardboard recycling).

It's time to change.

Stop wasting cups and get yourself a reusable one. Even better is to get one made from eco friendly materials. This one is made from naturally sterile Bamboo fibre. Bamboo fibre utilises  a lower- energy, lower-CO2 emissions manufacturing process, and is also BPA and phthalate free and doesn’t contain petrochemical plastic. Bamboo is one of the most sustainable materials around due to the speed at which it grows.

The best thing though is that lots of coffee sellers are now giving you money off your hot drink if you take your own cup in. Pret (as just one example) will give you 50p off the price of your drink. That means you only have to use it 20 times and it's paid for itself!  You don't have to be a hippy to embrace those economic incentives. It's a no brainer. Let's face it, it's not difficult to carry a cup in your bag on the way to work now is it?
